Christmas – is the most beautiful time of the year. All people meet with the family, friends and celebrate the return of the sun. The day length after the winter solstice (21.12.) again will be extended. For the Christians is the meaning of Christmas in Jesus birth. Christians go to church for midnight mass. In Prague you can find some buildings constructed in very non-traditional designs. One of the most famous is undoubtedly the Dancing House (also called the 'Drunk House' or 'Ginger and Fred'). The previous Czech president Vaclav Havel supported its design and construction, and lived almost next to the site. Vaclav Havel hoped that the building would some day be a centre of cultural activity in Prague.
One of the most amazing ZOOs is located in the City of Prague. Even though the zoo was first established in 1931, the biggest boom came during the 80´s and 90´s. The goal for the Zoo was to "advance the study of zoology, protect wildlife, and educate the public". It is located in the Troja district in the north of Prague. Nowadays the area of the zoo is 45 hectares (approx. 111 acres) and you can see about 4,600 animals that represent 630 species from all around the world.

A castle stood on the site of the first settlement in this area and was for a long time a royal seat. It was built during the 10th century, and today the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, and one of the most famous cemeteries in the Czech Republic, are located beside the castle site.
